Morocco

Hello,
This will be quick, our wifi has been quite poor here in Morocco, so no pictures. In fact, this is the first time I have been able to load the page to post to the blog. We have had an amazing time, it was quite a culture shock at first.
We took a ferry from Spain (near Gibraltar) to Tangiers, after 24 hours in Tangiers we took an overnight train in a sleeper car to Marrakech. Then we joined a guided tour and visited a Berber village in the high Atlas Mountains, then an oasis in the desert, then the Atlantic coast (with a camel ride on the beach), and now back in Marrakech. We will fly to Paris tomorrow and hopefully will be able to update more and post some pictures.
I can't believe we will be home in 10 days!

Bonjour from Provence, in southern France! First, our last few days in Germany: We visited a palace in Munich, Schloss Nymphenburg. It was the summer palace for the ruling family. It has beautiful gardens, and lots of waterfowl, including tons of Canada geese, swans, and this Eurasian coot - check out his feet: Our last day in Germany, we went to Zugspitze in the Alps, the tallest mountain in Germany. It was quite cloudy, so we didn't get much of a view, but we were able to cross over to Austria briefly. There are glaciers and places to sled. The next day, we then took a long train ride to Avignon in France, where we rented a car and drove to an adorable town called Fontvieille.  We are renting a place with a pool, the boys are really enjoying that We visited Chateau Montauban in town  and then went to see the remains of a Roman aqueduct. Happy 4th of July from Spain! We are enjoying a quiet, firework-free day. I am way behind on posting, sorry about that. We have been moving a lot, but will be settling down now. In St. Remy, France, we visited Glanum, some Roman ruins discovered about 100 years ago: St. Remy is also the location of the St. Paul Monastery/Asylum, where Van Gogh went after the ear lobectomy to recover, it is also where he painted the famous Starry Night. Our last day in France, we went to Pont du Gard. This is an enormous bridge that was an aqueduct for the city of Nimes, which outgrew its water supply and needed to bring in water from 50 km away. It was built around the middle of the 1st century, and is one of the tallest Roman structures (160 feet) and also one of the most intact. Pictures don't really do it justice, because we had seen pictures and then when we turned a corner and saw it in person, we stopped and just stared at the size and grandeur of it. The halfway point

Today marks the halfway point for our trip. I think we have some mixed feelings about that - Monte sometimes says he wants to go home, although that is mostly when he is upset about something. I feel like it has gone pretty fast, and though I miss some things, I am really glad we are doing this and am looking forward to the second half. I think Teo is mostly having fun but is sometimes a bit homesick. Jeff is enjoying it, but I think it might be wearing on him a bit. Anyway..... We are in Antequera, Spain for about a month. It is a town of about 45,000, basically right in the center of Andalusia in southern Spain, centrally located between Málaga, Córdoba, Granada, and Sevilla. Two years ago, the town suddenly became a tourist destination when it was named a UNESCO world heritage site.
